Here is the short film a small group of my friends and I did for the 2010 Sheridan College intro of our fourth year film screening. It was done with small clay cut out animation and we came up with the concept pretty quickly and made the entire thing in a day. Andrew Murray, Andrew Wilson, Adam Pockaj, Kevin Parry and I all animated and created the pieces. It was a lot of fun to just finish a project in a day while we were all still in crunch time working on our independent films.

Life Drawing update

Here are some life drawings from tonight's extra life. I used a pen that would blend nicely with a brush pen on top to get a semi-water colour effect I really liked. I'll have to use this technique more often.

The beginning of 4th year LD

The beginning of LD has been pretty fun so far, i'm actually at a stage when going to life drawing is a fun event and I really want to go to as many extra classes through the semester as I can. I think the costumes play a big part in the fun these days and the double model set up means there's a lot more focus on composition. I've never used pen in life drawing class before so the experience was all new to me.

life drawings from the past

So...it's been months since my last post, there's no solid reason for this other than the fact I don't have a scanner and the tones on these camera pictures bother me. Since this in fact my last year of animation I am going to put my best effort into posting the art from my short film (none of that yet..but soon) and weekly life drawings because that's what all the cool cats seem to do.

These life drawings are actually from 3rd year's final portfolio and a couple extras of faces I thought were interesting enough to share.

Royal Winter Fair '08 Drawings!

One page of sketches and another of colour studies for a life drawing assignment. I love going to the Royal Winter Fair. Maybe it's my hick-town roots, but the animals, the displays, the smells (yeah, even the barnyard one) and the farmers in general all remind me of home. It's pretty awesome to see people so passionate about their animals, from painting horse toenails all the way to cow groomers. Overall this year was pretty fun, I have never drawn people at the food court before so that was an interesting cross section of country mouse/city mouse. I also brought along the new pastels which has become the new big thing in life drawing this year. I'm really starting to like them now, there's a certain depth they bring to drawings that really helps show the form of the figure. About the drawings, the sketch of the lady on the first page(with the mushroom shaped hair) is a personal favourite of the day. I'm sure she was on to me while I was drawing it too. So funny.

World Literature Assignment

So this is my take on Charles Dicken's 'A Cristmas Carol', more specifically on the character of Bob Cratchit since that is who I have to present about. After I finished this I had the strange urge to sit by a fireplace and read. I also want to write/draw with a quill pen because those things look classy. Even if the outcome is pure crap, it was done with a freaking bird feather. lol But method wise, I put some thought into placement and colour for this picture because I need something to say for 10 mintes. Such as, I tried to make Cratchit round and coloured in warm tones to contrast Scrooge with his dark blues and Mr. Burns-like frame. He could destroy someone with those elbows...

I am still here

So I realized yesterday that upkeeping this blog has to be something I focus on now that i'm thinking about the internship portfolio and just to get feedback on my work in general. I have always been terrible at keeping journals, i've tried but never really found them a good use of time. I'm changing my ways though and this little blog is going to actually start getting posted on. Now I just need to scan all my stuff...

WOW I forgot about this blog... So here are some life drawings
